My Approach

Therapy here goes beyond managing symptoms. We work to understand why you're struggling—the patterns, beliefs, and old stories that keep you stuck—and discover what it actually looks like to live as yourself, not the version you were told to be.

You're the expert on your own life. My job is to help you see the patterns you're too close to notice and support you as you decide what actually needs to change. Some clients come for short-term, focused work on specific issues. Others dig deeper into long-standing patterns. We move at whatever pace makes sense for you.

  • Abstract brand shapes for Narrative Therapy at Grounded Practice in Vancouver, BC.

    Narrative Therapy

We look at the stories shaping your life—the ones you inherited about who you should be, what success means, how relationships work. Many of these stories were written early and no longer fit. We examine where they came from and what it looks like to rewrite them.

  • Balanced abstract shapes representing Mindfulness-based therapy and presence.

    Mindfulness Practices

Learning to notice what's happening in your body and mind without being hijacked by it. Mindfulness helps you regulate anxiety, pause before reacting, and develop self-compassion when you mess up.

  • Deep layered shapes representing Depth-Oriented psychotherapy and subconscious work.

    Depth-Oriented Work

Sometimes the real issue isn't the obvious one. We pay attention to recurring patterns, what keeps showing up in your life, and the things you notice but haven't said out loud. This work trusts that understanding the deeper "why" leads to change that actually lasts.

Common Reasons People Seek Therapy

  • Specialized therapy for anxiety, depression, and the weight of chronic stress. If you are navigating low mood, persistent sadness, or the paralyzing effects of panic, we work together to restore a sense of emotional balance. These struggles often stem from patterns established early in life—therapy helps you understand their roots, challenge negative self-talk, and develop new, grounded ways of responding.

  • Trauma-informed care for PTSD and emotional overwhelm. Early-life experiences can leave lasting imprints on our nervous system. I provide a safe space to process trauma and reclaim your sense of safety, helping you move from a state of constant "high alert" to one of presence and peace.

  • Navigating relationship conflict, attachment wounds, and intimacy. Whether you’re struggling with communication breakdowns, grief and loss, or recurring relational patterns, therapy creates space to understand the "Sea" of your emotions. We work to build emotional safety and discover what needs to shift for healthier connections.

  • Strengths-based support for ADHD and Executive Function. ADHD isn't just about focus—it's emotional dysregulation, rejection sensitivity, and chronic shame. I work with adults (particularly men) who've spent years "masking" or being told to just try harder. Together, we build strategies that fit your unique neurology and address the emotional toll of being misunderstood.

  • We offer flexible pricing based on project type and complexity. After an initial conversation, we’ll provide a transparent quote with no hidden costs.

  • Neuro-affirming care for Autistic and Neurodivergent adults. Living in a world not built for your brain can lead to sensory overwhelm and social exhaustion. I support late-diagnosed adults in understanding their neurology, reducing the burden of masking, and developing life strategies that honor their authentic selves rather than fighting them.

  • Guidance through midlife transitions and identity changes. Major life shifts often force us to re-examine our purpose. If you feel a gap between who you are and who you’re "supposed" to be, we use therapy to explore these existential questions and author a new story for your next chapter.

  • Support for burnout, exhaustion, and creative blocks. If you are stuck in a cycle of overwork and under-living, therapy can help you regulate your nervous system and set sustainable boundaries. We work to overcome perfectionism and fear so you can reconnect with your creative potential and flow.

I help adults navigate the stories that no longer serve them. Whether you are struggling with the exhaustion of ADHD, the weight of addiction, or the disorientation of a major life transition, my role is to provide a grounded space for deep, clinical exploration.

Specialized Clinical Expertise

  • Addiction & Substance Use: With experience in both private practice and inpatient treatment centers, I support people through the complexities of recovery and harm reduction. I focus on the underlying drivers of addiction and the practical process of rebuilding a life of agency.

  • Grief, Loss & Mortality: Having provided counseling in residential hospice settings, I have a deep specialized background in supporting families through terminal illness and bereavement. I am comfortable sitting in the profound questions that surface when time becomes finite.

  • Neuro-Affirming ADHD Support: I work with adults—particularly men and late-diagnosed individuals—navigating ADHD. I understand the emotional toll of executive dysfunction, rejection sensitivity, and chronic shame. My approach combines professional strategy with a lived-experience understanding of how a neurodivergent brain actually works.

  • Identity & Life Transitions: I provide inclusive support for the LGBTQ+ and non-monogamous communities, specifically helping those questioning inherited beliefs, sexual identity, or facing midlife shifts that shake their sense of self.

My Therapeutic Approach

My work is an integration of Narrative Therapy (re-authoring your life story), Mindfulness & Somatic Practices(regulating the nervous system), and Depth Psychotherapy (uncovering subconscious patterns). I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all advice; I believe in a collaborative practice where you are the expert on your life, and I am the expert on the process of change.
